Man arrested for armed robbery in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a 25-year-old man over his alleged involvement in an armed robbery in Itele, Ogun State.

The suspect, identified as Babatunde Ayinla, was arrested at about 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, after So-Safe operatives responded to a distress call reporting an ongoing robbery along Lafenwa Road.

The Corps’ Commander, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement made available through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Ganzallo said after receiving the call, the operatives led by Area Commander, Itele Area Command, ACC Abayomi Abass to the scene around the Orji Block Bus Stop along Lafenwa Road.

According to him, the operatives arrived at the scene and found members of the robbery syndicate fleeing on a stolen motorcycle. While some escaped, Ayinla was successfully cornered and arrested.

The commander said officers recovered a locally made pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, and a local protective charm from the suspect.

He added that Ayinla, along with the recovered exhibits, has been handed over to the Itele Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution.
