NDC spokesperson tackles content creators ‘masquerading as activists’

The spokesperson for the New Democratic Congress (NDC), Theo Agada, has called on the leadership of the party to remove what he described as “opportunistic content creators masquerading as activists” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Agada made the call in a post on X on Saturday while reacting to a video shared by a content creator identified as Flag Boy NG.

In the video, the content creator, who was wearing a shirt associated with the Obidient Movement, displayed political flags and materials linked to Peter Obi and the NDC before removing the shirt and setting the items on fire.

The video generated reactions on social media, with some commenters interpreting the action as the content creator’s apparent decision to distance himself from the NDC and the political movement associated with Obi.

Reacting to the development, Agada accused some content creators of using activism for personal interests and called on the party leadership to take action against them.

He wrote: “To be honest, I am so exhausted. I think it is about time the party leadership got rid of these opportunistic content creators masquerading as activists.

“If the motivation is not campaign donations, why are you people fighting over leadership in your micro-movements? Shame on you all.”

Agada’s comments come as political parties and movements begin preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The NDC has emerged as one of the political platforms attracting supporters of former Anambra State governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, although the party and Obi’s political future have continued to generate discussions among his supporters.

The video shared by Flag Boy NG showed him taking down political flags, removing his shirt and gathering the materials into a pile before pouring liquid over them and setting them alight.

The footage ended with a Flagboy NG graphic featuring Nigerian flags.

The circumstances behind the action and whether it represents a formal decision by the content creator to leave the NDC were not independently established in the post.

Agada, however, appeared to use the incident to renew his criticism of content creators involved in political activism, particularly those operating independent movements within the broader opposition space.
