Perez Hilton Sparks Concern After Disturbing Livestream Leads To Hospitalization

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been hospitalized after a livestream in which he appeared to inflict self-harm, leaving his fans deeply concerned. Emergency responders and authorities were dispatched to his home to conduct a welfare check, and he was subsequently brought to a hospital to receive medical attention.
On the evening of August 4, celebrity blogger and online personality Perez Hilton, born Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., went live on TikTok and appeared to harm himself while broadcasting. His concerned viewers alerted emergency responders to the incident, and authorities reportedly arrived at his home before the livestream ended.
The video has since been removed from the platform, and Hilton’s account was suspended.
Podcaster Zach Peter, who saw the disturbing video, provided more details on X. “He was fully nude. You can see everything. He appeared to be covered in a red substance; one can only assume it was blood,” Peter said, adding that it seemed Hilton was having a “psychotic break.”
Several news outlets also reported live from outside Hilton’s home in Miami, Florida, where he relocated in June.
The Blogger Was ‘Safely Recovered’ From His Home
The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office said they received multiple calls reporting an individual harming himself during a live broadcast. A crisis unit, including mental health professionals, was immediately dispatched to Hilton’s residence.
A spokesperson from the sheriff’s office said deputies decided to “tactically disengage,” and Hilton was “safely recovered.”
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the spokesperson said, per PEOPLE.
Deputies determined there was no immediate threat to other people. “Slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury,” a statement read.
Reports say that Hilton, who has three children, was alone at the residence when the incident happened.
Perez Hilton’s Managers Released A Statement
Hilton is represented by Golden Artists Entertainment, led by co-CEOs Rebekah Kochan and Dante Rusciolelli. Following the news reports about Hilton, the CEOs released a statement saying that they have not been in contact with their client despite reaching out.
“Our primary concern is Perez’s health and well-being, as well as the well-being of his family. Until we have confirmed information, we will not speculate or comment further, their statement read, adding they appreciate the concern for the client, per TMZ.
Hilton was safely transported to a local hospital to receive medical attention. Meanwhile, mental health professionals were at the scene to support the blogger’s family members.
The Blogger Said He Was ‘In A Bit Of A Spiral’ A Month Before The Livestream Incident
As previously reported by The Blast in July, Hilton sold his home in Las Vegas and relocated with his family to Miami, his hometown. It was a bittersweet change, and he exclusively told the outlet that his children had “mixed emotions” about the move, but were “overall excited.”
Following their relocation, however, Hilton told his followers on social media that it was a struggle. “I was in a bit of a spiral because I was overwhelmed with our move to Miami,” adding that he stopped engaging in habits that he believed supported his mental and physical well-being. “I fell off the wagon in every sense, but I’m back,” Hilton updated his fans.
Perez Hilton Had A Health Scare Earlier This Year
Earlier this year, Hilton revealed that he spent about three weeks confined to a hospital. What started as a flu ended up turning into a life-threatening condition.
The blogger revealed that he had been taking flu medication on an empty stomach and developed an ulcer that led to sepsis, a condition in which a patient’s immune system harms organs and tissues. “My body kept falling apart. My heart got out of control, they had to put me on heart medications. And then, I developed another infection in the hospital,” Hilton shared.
As The Blast reported, Hilton was close to death. He made a recovery, though, and later shared that he had a profound spiritual awakening during his time at the hospital.
