Police arrest six suspected kidnappers, dismantle hideout in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and dismantled a suspected kidnapping hideout in Ikara Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Thursday.

Hassan said the suspects were arrested following information provided by a kidnap victim who escaped from captivity, as well as intelligence from members of the public.

According to him, the victim reported his abduction to the police on Tuesday and identified a house belonging to 65-year-old Ja’e Samalu in Dogon Pako Village, Ikara, as the location where he was held.

Following the report, officers from the Ikara Police Division, working with local vigilantes, raided the location and arrested six suspects aged between 20 and 65.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their individual roles in the alleged crimes.

Hassan said efforts were also ongoing to apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, commended the police operatives and residents who provided information that led to the arrests.

Rabiu urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police formation.

He also warned that criminals could use residential buildings as hideouts or holding facilities for kidnapped victims, stressing the importance of community vigilance and timely information-sharing in tackling kidnapping.
