PSC appoints AIG Auwal as POLAC Commandant, deploys 8 CPs to State Commands

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, POLAC, Wudil, Kano State, alongside the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police, CPs, to various state commands.

The Commission said the postings were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen police leadership and address operational requirements following the promotion of former state commissioners.

The decisions were reached at the Commission’s meeting presided over by retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Paul Adamu Galumje, who serves as Board Member and Honourable Commissioner I of the PSC.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Njoku Kalu, AIG Mohammed brings more than 33 years of policing experience spanning operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing and training.

The new POLAC Commandant holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano. During his career, he served as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zones 3 and 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Commission approved the deployment of CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo to Abia State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau State, CP Saka Adewale Ajao to Bayelsa State, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama to Anambra State, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo State, CP Tijani Murtala to Jigawa State and CP Samuel Erale Etaifo to Delta State.

Before their new postings, the officers held strategic positions at the Force Headquarters and other police formations, including the Department of Training and Development, the Police Cooperative Society, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), INTERPOL and the Force Intelligence Department.

Addressing the newly posted senior officers, Justice Galumje urged them to uphold professionalism, remain politically neutral and discharge their duties in accordance with the rule of law.

He charged them to remain firm, diligent and impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities, stressing the importance of professionalism in sustaining public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

Other members of the Commission who attended the meeting included Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, retired Justice Christine Ladi Dabup and the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.

The PSC said the latest postings were aimed at strengthening leadership across state police commands and enhancing operational effectiveness in line with the policing needs of the country.
