Seven miners confirmed killed as pit collapses in Plateau community

Seven miners have been confirmed killed after a mining pit caved in on them at Kassa community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening while the victims were conducting routine mining activities at the site.
A resident of the community, Albert Danlami, said the pit collapsed on the miners at about 7 pm.
Danlami said the victims were trapped underground following the collapse, prompting residents and other miners to commence efforts to recover them.
According to him, the incident caused panic in the community as residents rushed to the mining site following the collapse.
He said the miners had been working at the site before the earth suddenly caved in on them.
Danlami also said some people were injured following the collapse.
The Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident on Thursday.
He said efforts were made to rescue the miners after the incident, but they were found dead.
