‘They all knew’: Resurfaced speech shows GOP lawmaker reference MAGA ally’s alleged abuse
This Video Is Trending Right Now
As Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) faces heightened scrutiny over allegations he abused his ex-wife, columnist Kaivan Shroff flagged a years-old House floor speech he argued showed the Ohio Republican’s alleged conduct was well known among GOP colleagues.
In 2023, ex-Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was facing calls for his expulsion following the publication of a damning Ethics Committee report on his conduct. Among those who called for Santos’ expulsion was Miller, who on the House floor in November of that year called Santos a “crook.”
Santos fired back at Miller by making reference to accusations that he was a “woman-beater,” allegations stemming from a former White House staffer who accused the Ohio Republican of domestic abuse in 2021 – an accusation he denied.
Miller faced renewed scrutiny late last month after new allegations against him were unearthed, including that he allegedly held a gun to his ex-wife’s head, threw boiling water on her and broke his 2-year-old daughter’s collarbone – all of which he has vehemently denied.
That a GOP colleague was making an open reference to Miller’s alleged abuse nearly three years before the latest wave of allegations, argued columnist and Democratic political commentator Shroff, was telling.
“FROM 2023,” Shroff wrote in a social media post on X Monday, alongside a clip of Santos’ House floor comments. “THEY ALL KNEW. REPUBLICANS COVER FOR EACH OTHERS’ CRIMES.”
Sports commentator and designer Mike Ginn bluntly noted that the exchange transpired “3 years ago,” and Jack Mulcahy, an actor and fierce critic of President Donald Trump, expressed his shock that a lawmaker as controversy-ridden as Santos appeared to take the moral high ground in his spat with Miller.
“Hey, when you’ve lost George Santos…” Mulcahy wrote Monday in a social media post on X.
