Twin Brothers Land NNPC Jobs Despite One Family One Job Belief

Identical twin brothers Hussaini and Hassan Malami have joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation as members of the NNPC Tigers Class of 2026, both successfully securing positions despite initial reservations.

Their dual recruitment has challenged persistent assumptions that the corporation restricts employment to a single representative per family.

Hussaini harboured longstanding aspirations to work at NNPC and submitted an application immediately upon recruitment opening, subsequently urging Hassan to apply as well.

Hassan proved reluctant, convinced that NNPC’s policy precluded hiring more than one family member and fearing his application might jeopardise his brother’s prospects.

His career focus lay with the Nigerian Air Force, where he intended to serve, and he had pursued banking sector employment rather than corporate positions.

His hesitation was reinforced by the unsuccessful NNPC applications of three older siblings a lawyer, engineer and business administrator years earlier.

Hassan eventually submitted his application shortly before the deadline following Hassan’s sustained encouragement.

Both brothers completed the computer-based examination on the same day at separate locations: Hussaini in Sokoto and Hassan in Kaduna.

Upon progressing through interviews and remaining recruitment phases, both received employment offers simultaneously.

Hussaini recalled checking his email after midnight and wanting to alert his household immediately, while Hassan learned of his success through the family group chat the following morning, experiencing anxiety upon discovering his brother’s news prior to confirming his own status.

Hussaini now serves with NNPC Exploration & Production Limited, whilst Hassan works with NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company.

Hassan’s position has granted insight into Nigeria’s gas sector, a sphere he previously underestimated.

He now views his corporate role as an alternative avenue for national service, though retains ambitions to pursue military participation before reaching the 2030 age limit.

Hussaini remains committed to his long-term objective of societal contribution and aspires to eventually mentor university students as a visiting lecturer, drawing from his professional experience.

The brothers recommended that prospective NNPC candidates disregard recruitment speculation and pursue applications based on merit and preparedness, emphasising that connections are unnecessary for securing positions.

Their narrative establishes that familial ties do not prevent qualified individuals from gaining employment at NNPC, provided they satisfy requirements and complete the selection process successfully.
