Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the National Assembly representing the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency, has pledged that the Action Peoples Party, or APP, will gain elective positions in the upcoming general elections through the ballot, not the court.
He made the declaration at his country home in Umukegwu Akokwa, Ideato North, while addressing party supporters and political associates.
The lawmaker maintained that the 2027 electoral contest would be historic, stressing that APP was fully prepared for the exercise regardless of what he described as the ruling party’s scheming to manipulate the process, particularly in Imo State.
Ugochinyere, who is APP’s flag bearer for the Ideato North/South Federal seat, described the party as a new political movement poised to reshape the state’s political landscape.
The Ideato-born politician alleged that the ruling party had finalised plans to rig the election, but insisted they would be disappointed, vowing to ensure that voters defended their polling units both during and after the voting process.
He urged his supporters and party faithful to always stand up for and defend their mandate, stressing that exercising their franchise was a fundamental right that could not be taken from them.
He recalled that his people had elected him while he was in exile and expressed confidence they would do the same again this time around.
He vowed that outsiders would not be allowed to destroy the legacies left behind by their forefathers, who worked hard to build a better society.
He further alleged that their opponents, aware they lacked genuine electoral support, had resorted to violence and the destruction of campaign billboards, but insisted such tactics would not be tolerated, vowing that his camp would continue to outmanoeuvre them.
