The latest war of words between Nyesom Wike and Rotimi Amaechi has sparked fresh debate among Nigerians, with many closely watching as the two political heavyweights trade sharp remarks amid growing attention on the 2027 general election.

According to a report by an online news platform, the latest confrontation began after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reportedly questioned Rotimi Amaechi’s political relevance, claiming that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar picked him as running mate for financial reasons.

The remarks reportedly drew a swift response from the former Rivers State governor, reigniting questions over whether the long-running rivalry between the two men is taking an increasingly personal turn.

The disagreement follows Amaechi’s emergence as vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), after the party’s presidential primary.

Although he had initially contested for the party’s presidential ticket, he lost to Atiku Abubakar, who subsequently approached him, resulting in his emergence as running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During a session with select journalists, Wike reportedly insisted that Amaechi no longer holds meaningful political value in Rivers State, a comment that quickly drew public attention given that both men once worked closely together before becoming political rivals.
