A Nigerian man has shared a conversation he once had with his former girlfriend about violence in their relationship.
The man, identified on X as @JahBlesssaint21, said his ex-girlfriend asked what he would do if she hit him during an argument.
She wanted to know whether he would hit her back or leave the house.
The man replied that he would retaliate. According to him, his response left her shocked.
He explained that he had never raised his hand against her because of his upbringing and the respect he had for her.
However, he warned that there would be consequences if she attacked him first because he considered such behaviour disrespectful.
“I told her if you choose to raise your hand against me first, you should also understand that there will be consequences for that disrespect“, He stated.
His story attracted different reactions online, with many people discussing boundaries and domestic abuse in relationships.
Mayor stated, “It’s good you made her understand the boundaries. She probably watched a video and saw how the man reacted, she wanted to experiment with you”.
Iwalewa emphasized, “No one deserves to be abused by their partner”.
Efikas wrote, “I am very sure her subconscious mind will cancel out slapping you when you guys have a misunderstanding”.
Donsyl added, “She was saying that to test you, if you told her know, she would didn’t slap you someday, I’m happy about the response you gave her”.
