2027: ‘They’ve affirmed our leadership again’ – SDP’s Gombe reacts to Supreme Court judgement
The chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Professor Abubakar Sadiq Gombe, has reacted to the Supreme Court judgment on Friday ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press briefing with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Gombe said the Supreme Court has once again affirmed the authenticity of its leadership.
DAILY POST reports that the Supreme Court nullified the Court of Appeal judgment that invalidated the conduct of the gubernatorial primary election of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) under Gombe’s leadership for the June 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Reacting, Gombe said that apex court decision is a testament to the opposition party’s leadership under him.
According to him, contrary to claims circulating online, the Supreme Court did not restore Shehu Musa Gabam as SDP national chairman.
He insisted that Gabam remain an expelled member of the party.
“The Supreme Court has again made it clear that issues concerning internal party affairs are within the jurisdiction of the party. We are simply following our constitution and due process,” he said.
