ADC clears 1,657 aspirants, disqualifies 212 ahead of primaries
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by its factional national chairman, Nafiu Bala Gombe, has completed the screening of aspirants ahead of its upcoming primary elections across Nigeria.
The party said a total of 1,657 aspirants were cleared to participate in the primaries, while 212 were disqualified for failing to meet the required conditions.
According to the party, the screening exercise was conducted in a transparent and orderly manner across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. Screening committees were established in all states in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
The ADC also explained that out of 1,869 aspirants who took part in the exercise, only those who met the stipulated requirements were cleared to proceed.
“Out of the 980 aspirants who participated in the screening exercise for State House of Assembly positions, 155 were disqualified and deemed ineligible to proceed to the primary election; 50 aspirants for the House of Representatives did not meet the screening requirements, while seven aspirants for the Senate were similarly unsuccessful and did not pass the exercise,” the party stated.
The ADC said the reasons for disqualification included inconsistencies in dates of birth and graduation years, lack of valid party membership cards, and failure to comply with electoral guidelines.
