Late arrival of materials disrupts APC gov primary in Nasarawa

The ongoing governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State has been characterised by the late arrival of election materials across most electoral wards in the state.

Our correspondent reports that in most of the wards visited in Nasarawa South and Nasarawa West, primary election materials were yet to arrive as of 6 pm.

During a visit to Kokona Local Government Area of the state, our correspondent observed that most eligible voters had returned home due to the absence of voting materials.

At Ciroma Ward, the governorship primary election had yet to commence as of 3pm when our correspondent visited the area.

At the Dunoma Primary School centre in Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where most residents of the ward were expected to vote, hundreds of party supporters and faithful were seen stranded.

Security operatives, including personnel of the military, police, Civil Defence and the Federal Road Safety Corps, were stationed at the venue to maintain law and order.

Our correspondent reports that the governorship primary election was ongoing peacefully, though the atmosphere was rowdy, with no recorded incidents of violence.

Aspirants vying for the governorship position include Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, former NASENI Executive Vice Chairman, former Accountant-General of the state Zakka Yakubu, Hassan Liman, SAN, among others.
