The Ondo State Police Command has announced that Felix Ohagwu has formally assumed office as the state’s 47th Commissioner of Police.
The announcement was made in a statement released to journalists in Akure on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
Ohagwu succeeds Adebowale Lawal, following a reposting order by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
The reshuffle, according to the statement, is part of the IGP’s broader strategy to reinforce internal security and improve the quality of policing across the country.
The new Commissioner was described as a highly experienced officer with a distinguished career spanning over three decades, during which he has served in various operational, investigative, and administrative roles nationwide.
He was commended for his professionalism, discipline, and leadership in areas such as crime prevention, intelligence-driven policing, and public safety management.
In his remarks upon assuming office, Ohagwu pledged to build on the existing security framework in the state, with a strong focus on protecting lives and property.
He outlined plans to tackle crime through proactive policing, improved intelligence gathering, community engagement, and collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders.
He also called on residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and reliable information that could aid in preventing crime and maintaining public safety.
