Two Nigerians, three others arrested over gang rape of tourist in Italy

Two Nigerians and three other African migrants have been arrested over the alleged abduction and gang rape of a Colombian tourist in Rome.

The suspects were apprehended after police raided an abandoned building on the outskirts of the Italian capital where the victim was allegedly held for several days.

Investigators said the 32-year-old Colombian woman was reportedly lured away from a restaurant by a man who allegedly offered to sell her illicit substances before she was taken away in a vehicle.

Authorities alleged that the woman was held captive for about 72 hours, during which she was repeatedly assaulted, drugged and threatened.

The victim later escaped from the building and was found in distress along a roadside by a passerby, who alerted emergency responders.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Nigerians Isibor Wisdom and Paul Nwabueze, alongside three other migrants from Gambia and Mali.

The suspects have been charged with gang rape and remain in police custody while investigations continue.

Authorities said security operatives are also searching for other individuals believed to have participated in the incident, including the man who allegedly lured the victim and the driver who transported her to the abandoned property.

Police further disclosed that several undocumented migrants were discovered during the raid, with some transferred to detention centres pending deportation procedures.
