59 suspected drug peddlers arrested in Plateau

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and local vigilante groups, have arrested 59 suspected drug peddlers during a raid in Plateau State.

The operation was carried out at about 12:15 p.m. on June 12, 2026 at Congo-Russia area in Jos North Local Government Area following intelligence on suspected drug activities in the area.
According to sources, the joint security team stormed the hideout and apprehended the suspects without resistance.
The operation also led to the recovery of illicit drugs and other items believed to be connected to drug trafficking and distribution activities.

The suspects are currently in custody of the security operatives for further investigation and subsequent action.
Authorities said the raid was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and related criminal activities within Jos metropolis and its environs.
They reaffirmed their commitment to sustained intelligence-led operations aimed at restoring law and order across Plateau State.
