A member of the Kantanka family has disclosed that former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo is in a worrying medical condition following the shooting incident that targeted her vehicle, with her face said to be swollen beyond recognition.
The family member, who spoke publicly on the matter, indicated that discussions are actively ongoing to fly Adwoa Safo abroad for specialised medical treatment. Possible destinations being considered include Dubai, Germany, and the United States of America.
“Her condition is worrying… she has a swollen face beyond recognition,” the family source disclosed.
The revelation marks a significant escalation in concern over the former Dome Kwabenya MP’s health after the Kantanka family held a press conference alleging that more than 48 rounds were fired at her vehicle during a family dispute over a chieftaincy coronation ceremony that was allegedly conducted in defiance of a court injunction.
Adwoa Safo, who served as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection under the previous New Patriotic Party administration, has not issued a personal statement on her condition. Her medical team had not publicly commented on her status as of press time.
The family’s disclosure has heightened public anxiety over the incident and intensified calls for a swift and transparent investigation by law enforcement authorities.
It remains unclear which hospital Adwoa Safo is currently receiving treatment at, or whether a final decision on the overseas medical evacuation destination has been reached. The cost of the proposed medical trip and who will bear it were also not disclosed by the family.
