Former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, has said President Bola Tinubu does not sleep easy due to the insecurity bedevilling the country.

Shagari stated this on Thursday when he appeared as a guest on a television programme, saying that every state currently has a security vote and that those resources should be channelled into supporting the establishment of state police.

According to him, there should be no excuses when it comes to protecting lives and property, as Nigerians are increasingly concerned about the security situation.

“The President hardly sleeps easy because of the security situation. He is deeply concerned about the safety and security of Nigerians, but security cannot be the responsibility of the Federal Government alone.

“States must step up to support the President, the military, and other security agencies in tackling insecurity so that people can travel freely, go about their daily activities, and sleep peacefully without fear for their safety,” he said.
