The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recorded another loss in the House of Representatives following the defection of a federal lawmaker from Bauchi State to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Aliyu Misau, who represents Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency, officially announced his exit from the PDP on Wednesday, adding to the growing list of lawmakers leaving the opposition party in the state.
His decision was made known through a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, during plenary.
In the letter, the lawmaker said the lingering crisis within the PDP influenced his decision to seek a new political platform.
“I would like to thank the PDP for the opportunity given to me to serve the good people of Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency. The leadership crisis in the PDP has made it impossible for me to continue to represent my people and contribute to the development of the constituency.”
The latest move comes only a few days after four other members of the Bauchi caucus in the House of Representatives also left the PDP for the APM.
