Kaduna aligns with Tinubu’s reforms, targets more investments – Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State says his administration remains committed to creating a conducive environment for businesses by aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda.

Mr Sani stated this on Thursday at the technical session of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, PEBEC, nationwide town hall and state engagement tour in Kaduna.

Represented by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Patience Fakai, the governor highlighted reforms undertaken to improve governance and attract investments.

He said the reforms focused on transparency, institutional strengthening, simplified government processes, investment promotion and improved service delivery across the state.

According to him, the reforms have started producing measurable outcomes and strengthening Kaduna’s position as a preferred investment destination.

Mr Sani noted that Kaduna ranked second nationwide in the latest Subnational Ease of Doing Business assessment.

He said the achievement was encouraging but stressed that reform remained a continuous process requiring sustained commitment and innovation.

The governor expressed optimism that the workshop would deepen understanding of critical reform areas and improve implementation strategies.

He listed the areas to include regulatory impact assessment, investor experience management, harmonisation of levies, commercial dispute resolution and digital reforms.

Mr Sani described the engagement as an opportunity for learning, peer review and collaborative problem-solving among stakeholders.

He said recommendations from the sessions would strengthen Kaduna’s reform agenda and sustain its competitiveness among investment destinations.

The governor urged participants to actively engage, share experiences and maximise the expertise provided by the PEBEC team.

Earlier, PEBEC Director General, Princess Zahrah Audu, said the engagement reflected a key principle of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

She said sustainable economic transformation required strong collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments.

According to Mrs Audu, Nigeria’s economic future will be shaped largely by the strength and competitiveness of state economies.

She noted that Kaduna possessed strategic advantages, including its location as Northern Nigeria’s gateway and extensive transportation networks.

Mrs Audu also cited the state’s vibrant agricultural sector, growing industrial base and strong educational institutions as major assets.

She said opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, technology, renewable energy and agribusiness further enhanced Kaduna’s investment appeal.

According to her, rail and road connectivity, industrial estates and commitment to reforms provide a foundation for sustainable growth.

Mr Audu, however, said the challenge was ensuring opportunities were effectively packaged and supported by an enabling business environment.

She advised Kaduna to deepen business reforms, improve infrastructure and continue supporting private sector growth.

The PEBEC boss also urged the state to strengthen sectors where it enjoys comparative advantages to attract more investments and create jobs.
