Mayor in 'high heels and Botox' jailed for just 90 days after she raped 16-year-old boy

A former Louisiana mayor has been jailed for 90 days after raping a 16-year-old boy. Misty Roberts, 44, was convicted earlier this year of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, or statutory rape, and indecent behavior with a juvenile. She was facing 17 years in prison. Roberts sexually assaulted the teenager at her home in July 2024 as they drank alcohol at a pool party. Roberts was mayor of DeRidder, a city in the US state, at the time, a role she had been in since 2018. She received two five-year suspended sentences, to be served concurrently unless she violates parole, and must register as a sex offender.

Roberts was also ordered to pay $5,000 in fines, and will undergo regular drug screenings, as well as psychotropic and psychological therapy after being released. She told the court hearing: “I blame myself then, I blame myself today, and I will blame myself for the rest of my life.”

She added: “I let a lot of people down, and I am the only person responsible for that.”

Roberts told the victim’s family: “I am sorry. I can’t give back the high school days… I can’t take away the embarrassment that so many mean people on the internet have put them through.”

KPLC reported that the victim’s mother said: “This predator was not hiding in a van carrying candy or a puppy. This danger came from a predator with hair extensions, high heels, Botox, and other modifications.”

The woman added that she would find her son sitting in his room alone, and hear him crying at night.

“Every social event carried questions no teenager should have to ask … Half of his high school experience was taken from him,” she said.

The mother then told Roberts: “Stay the hell away from my family.”
