Nigerian army rescue six kidnap victims abandoned by fleeing terrorists in Katsina

Troops of the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnap victims who were abandoned by fleeing terrorists during a military offensive in Katsina State.
The development was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on Tuesday.
According to the post, the rescue took place on Monday at Unguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area after sustained military operations forced the terrorists to flee their hideouts.
The rescued victims include four women and two children. They were identified as Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 25; Fatima Saidu, 22; Huzaima Nasiru, 16; one-year-old Usman Surajo; and 18-month-old Dauda Isiaku.
“During preliminary questioning, the victims told troops that they were kidnapped by armed terrorists on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe-Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“The victims, who are all from Bilbis village, said they spent more than three months in captivity before their captors abandoned them while escaping from the advancing troops,” Makama wrote.
According to Zagazola, the military offensive formed part of ongoing operations by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist camps and restore security across the North-West.
Military sources quoted in the post said the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and other necessary care. Efforts are also underway to reunite them with their families.
