NPP Aspirant Withdraws From Gushegu Communication Officer Race Over Apology Demand

Abdul Wadud Iddrisu has withdrawn from the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Constituency Communication Officer position in the Gushegu Constituency Executive Elections.

In a statement announcing his decision, Iddrisu said he was withdrawing from the election scheduled for July 11 or 12, 2026.

He claimed that he had been asked to issue a public apology on Facebook to the NPP and Lawyer Sulemana Hassan Tampuli, the Member of Parliament for Gushegu, as a condition for his candidature.

According to him, he declined to meet that condition.

“I have decided not to meet that condition, and I will therefore not proceed with the contest even if my name is captured without the apology letter,” he stated.

Iddrisu also requested that his name be removed from the ballot for the Communication Officer position and that all records relating to his application be withdrawn from the party’s files.

Despite stepping down from the contest, he maintained that he remains a loyal member of the NPP in the Gushegu Constituency.
