NSCDC rescues abducted 15-year-old girl, arrests two suspects in Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command, have rescued an abducted 15-year-old girl and arrested two suspects in connection with the crime.

The teenage girl was abducted on June 19, 2026, in Oghu Community, Ewohimi, in Esan South East Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement on Monday, June 22, 2026, the Command’s spokesperson, Efosa Ogbebor, said the girl was abducted after she left home to buy a phone charging cord in the area.

According to him, one Mr. Odion Odigie reported at the station that his younger sister, Miss Glory Odigie, had left home the previous day to purchase a phone charging cord but had not returned home.

He said the suspected kidnappers contacted the  family and demanded a ransom of N800,000, warning against informing security agencies.

The spokesperson added that investigation led to the arrest of one Freedom Saturday, 16, and  Thankgod Oriabor, 21, at Oghu community, in Ewohimi, where the victim was successfully rescued.

He disclosed that the suspects were in custody, with investigation ongoing.
