Okpebholo Celebrates Bishop Matthew Okpebholo at 76, Hails Legacy of Service

BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated the Presiding Bishop of the Grace of God Mission International, Rt. Rev. Dr. Matthew Akhaze Okpebholo, JP, on the occasion of his 76th birthday, describing him as a distinguished servant of God whose life has been marked by service, compassion and impactful contributions to humanity.

In a goodwill message issued on Monday, the governor said Bishop Okpebholo had, over the decades, dedicated his life to the service of God, the advancement of society and the upliftment of people through education, healthcare, Christian ministry and community development.

According to the governor, the cleric’s commitment to improving lives has resulted in the establishment of enduring institutions and initiatives that continue to benefit thousands of people across generations.

“Dear Bishop, you are a remarkable servant of God, a philanthropist, and a community builder who has, for decades, dedicated your life to the service of God, humanity, and the advancement of society,” the governor stated.

Governor Okpebholo noted that Bishop Okpebholo remains a symbol of compassion, sacrifice and purposeful leadership, having consistently transformed challenges into opportunities through investments in education, healthcare, human capital development and spiritual guidance.

He further commended the cleric’s contributions beyond the pulpit, describing him as a source of inspiration whose philanthropic activities and business ventures have created opportunities and restored hope to many individuals and communities.

The governor particularly recalled the bishop’s recent donation of a Geriatric Centre to the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, describing the gesture as a reflection of his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and giving back to society.

“As you mark this milestone, I wish you renewed strength, good health, and many more years of impactful service,” the governor said.

He described the celebrant as “a true icon of faith, compassion and service” whose legacy continues to inspire countless people within and beyond Edo State.
