Osun: NYSC, firm train Corps members in technology

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State, in partnership with Flint Bells, has organised a tech bootcamp for corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede.

The partners said the bootcamp was part of efforts to expose young graduates to emerging technologies and innovation.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flint Bells, Femi Lanlehin, who has served as a resource person for the programme over the past three years, trained the corps members in digital innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), entrepreneurship, and the future of work.

During the training, Lanlehin delivered the keynote presentation titled ‘The future of tech and AI in Africa’.

He encouraged corps members to embrace continuous learning and to acquire digital skills that would prepare them for opportunities within Africa’s rapidly evolving technology ecosystem.

He highlighted the increasing adoption of AI across sectors, including healthcare, education, agriculture, financial technology, and public administration, while emphasising the need for responsible innovation, ethical AI development, and lifelong learning.

The assistant camp director at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Mr Owolabi, described the bootcamp as one of the innovation-driven programmes introduced to broaden corps members’ exposure beyond the traditional orientation curriculum.

According to Owolabi, the collaboration between NYSC and Flint Bells has continued to add value to the orientation programme, adding that the responses from participants have been encouraging.

He added that the NYSC remains committed to creating opportunities that expose corps members to practical knowledge to improve their employability, entrepreneurial capacity, and contribution to national development.

The session concluded with an interactive engagement during which corps members sought guidance on careers in software engineering, cybersecurity, AI, digital entrepreneurship, and product development.

Some corps members who spoke after the session described the engagement as insightful, noting that it motivates them to pursue careers within Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
