Three people confirmed dead, 17 others injured in Lagos building collapse

Three people have been confirmed dead after a building collapsed in the Satellite Town area of Badagry, Lagos State.
The residential building, located at Old Ojo Road by Alakija Bus Stop, off the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, collapsed on the morning of Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Seventeen other occupants were rescued alive from the rubble with varying degrees of injuries and have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
Officials at the scene confirmed that three bodies have so far been recovered while search and rescue operations continue.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said it received a distress call at about 11:37 a.m. and immediately deployed personnel from the Ijegun-Egba Fire Station. The team arrived at the site at 11:49 a.m.
Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, earlier announced that rescue teams had saved 10 people. Efforts are ongoing to locate any additional survivors.
Multiple emergency agencies are involved in the operation, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Navy, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Nigerian Red Cross Society, and other responders.
Heavy-duty equipment, including excavators, has been deployed to aid the search-and-rescue efforts as operations continue.
