Tributes pour in as Sanwo-Olu marks last birthday as governor

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, marked his 61st birthday on June 25, 2026, drawing goodwill messages from political leaders, associates, friends and well-wishers across the country.
Leading the tributes was President Bola Tinubu, who congratulated the governor and commended his contributions to governance, public service and the development of Lagos State.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, also joined other prominent personalities in celebrating Sanwo-Olu. Makinde, who has maintained a cordial relationship with his Lagos counterpart, was among the dignitaries who attended the governor’s birthday thanksgiving service last year.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, paid glowing tribute to his boss, praising his leadership, commitment to public service and the strong working relationship they have built over the years.
The Lagos State Government also celebrated the governor, describing his birthday as an opportunity to reflect on his years of dedicated service, leadership and unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the state.
Born on June 25, 1965, Sanwo-Olu has built a reputation as a seasoned public administrator, leading Nigeria’s commercial capital with a focus on infrastructure development, economic growth and governance reforms.
This year’s celebration is particularly significant as it marks his final birthday while serving as governor, with his second and constitutionally final term expected to end in 2027.
As tributes continued to pour in, many political leaders, associates and well-wishers acknowledged his contributions to Lagos State and prayed for continued good health, wisdom and greater accomplishments in the years ahead.
