A young woman whose identity has not yet been confirmed reportedly lost her life after being hit by a speeding vehicle within the campus of Rivers State University on Tuesday night, June 23.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred along Road A inside the university premises when a vehicle said to be part of a convoy struck the victim.
Witnesses alleged that the force of the impact threw the woman to the ground, causing her to suffer severe head injuries after hitting the tarred road. She reportedly died from the injuries sustained in the accident.
Sources further claimed that some of the vehicles in the convoy, along with their occupants, left the scene after realizing the victim had died.
The incident has sparked concern and calls for accountability, with many awaiting an official statement from the Rivers State Police Command.
As of the time of filing this report, the police had not yet issued a public response regarding the fatal accident.
