The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Tuesday assured that roads constructed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are meant for all Nigerians and not for members of a single political party.

Akpabio stated that President Bola Tinubu does not discriminate when it comes to road infrastructure across the country. He spoke during the commissioning of the newly constructed Transit Way N2, linking the Central Business District to Wuse District via two bridges, an event held to mark Tinubu’s third year in office.

Representing the President at the event, Akpabio recalled an anecdote about a former governor in his state who, not particularly proud of his grandfather’s name, chose to go by his baptismal name instead, deliberately avoiding any reference to his family lineage.

Drawing a light-hearted comparison, he joked that he would similarly avoid mentioning a certain political party in his remarks.

He then assured the distinguished invitees, stakeholders, FCT administrators, senators, and House of Representatives members present that the roads were not built for the benefit of any single political party, but for all Nigerians, FCT residents, and visitors alike.

He reiterated that the President does not discriminate when it comes to infrastructure development, noting that this was why he appointed someone with a proven track record to oversee the FCT with a clear mandate to deliver.

Akpabio commended the minister’s track record, both as a former state governor and as a former Minister of Education, stating that his performance had clearly demonstrated he would not disappoint, and that indeed he had not.
