Benue killings: Gov Alia visits Och’Idoma, calls for timely sharing of information

Following the recent deadly attacks by gunmen in Otukpo-Nobi and other parts of Benue South Senatorial District, Governor Hyacinth Alia on Tuesday visited the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty, Dr. John Elaigwu, at his palace in Otukpo.
During the visit, Governor Alia sympathised with the traditional ruler and the people of the zone over the killings.
He urged residents, particularly the youth, to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and actionable intelligence.
“Such information will enable security agencies to respond swiftly and effectively,” the governor said.
Alia assured the people of Benue that security agencies will continue to pursue the bandits and criminal elements responsible for the attacks.
He condemned the killings and reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with security forces to tackle all forms of insecurity in the state.
The governor also announced that his administration has scheduled a roundtable meeting with residents of the affected communities to address their concerns and work towards lasting peace in the area.
