Chocolate City Initiates ₦50 Million Legal Action Against Odumodublvck Over Alleged Assault at Flytime Festival

Chocolate City has commenced legal proceedings against Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, following a ₦50 million damages claim filed by one of its staff members. The suit arises from an alleged assault backstage at the 2025 Flytime Festival, held on 22 December 2025 at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Court filings reveal that the claimant, who serves as Project Manager and Public Relations Officer at Chocolate City, instituted the action at the High Court of Lagos State. He alleges that while discharging his professional duties for a Chocolate City artiste scheduled to perform, Odumodublvck approached him backstage and, without provocation, struck him in the face, pushed him aggressively, and issued threats.

The claimant further avers that despite intervention by security personnel, the defendant persisted in making violent threats, including statements that he would “end” him. He also alleges that one of Odumodublvck’s associates, identified as “Shagba,” acting on the defendant’s instruction, poured alcohol on him, thereby aggravating the incident.

According to the statement of claim, the confrontation caused panic backstage and necessitated the claimant’s evacuation to a secure location. He asserts that the assault resulted in recurrent headaches, swelling, general body pain, and psychological trauma. Medical treatment was received at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he was advised to suspend work engagements.

The claimant states that he incurred ₦2 million in medical bills, ₦1 million in ancillary medical costs, and ₦1.5 million in additional expenses. He further claims that the injuries prevented him from fulfilling professional obligations, including an overseas trip with a Chocolate City artiste, leading to financial losses and missed career opportunities.

He seeks ₦50 million in damages, representing lost income, delayed project deliverables, and missed engagements. Supporting documents such as contracts and booking confirmations are expected to be tendered during trial.

Chocolate City, in its official statement, emphasized that the welfare and safety of its employees remain paramount. The label confirmed that its staff member has received medical care and support, and reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice through the courts.

At the time of this report, Odumodublvck had not issued a public response. The allegations remain before the court for determination.
