Commander Infantry Corps visits 4 Brigade, unveils projects

The Commander Infantry Corps (CIC), Major General Godwin Mutkut, on Saturday paid an operational assessment visit to Headquarters 4 Brigade Nigerian Army in Benin City during which he commissioned completed projects.

The Commander commended the Brigade for its proactive operational posture and outstanding administrative achievements.

Speaking during an address to officers and soldiers of the Brigade, Mutkut conveyed the goodwill message of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, and praised the troops for their loyalty, discipline, resilience, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to duty. 

He urged personnel to remain focused, dedicated, and steadfast in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities, while continuing to uphold the core values and ethics of the Nigerian Army.

He also emphasised the importance of maintaining strong family values, encouraging officers and soldiers to show love, care, and respect to their families, noting that a stable home front contributes significantly to effective military service. 

He further lauded the Brigade for sustaining a robust operational posture that has continued to enhance security and maintain peace across Edo State.

As part of the visit, the Commander Infantry Corps commissioned several completed infrastructural projects executed by the Brigade Commander. 

The projects included the remodelled Brigade Conference Room, New Brigade Operations Room, Brigade Sick Bay, Ultra-Modern Fire Point, Quarter Guard, and newly constructed 4 Brigade Mascot and Fountain. 

Describing the projects as landmark achievements, Major General Mutkut stated that they would greatly improve operational efficiency, troops welfare, and the overall working environment. 

He commended the Commander 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to actualising the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff through impactful infrastructure development and effective command.

Earlier, Balogun warmly received Mutkut, expressing profound appreciation for the operational assessment visit and encouragement given to officers and soldiers of the Brigade. 

He assured the Commander Infantry Corps that the Brigade would remain resolute in protecting the lives and property of law-abiding citizens while sustaining the high professional standards, discipline, and operational excellence for which the Nigerian Army and the Infantry Corps are renowned.

The visit featured the commissioning of completed projects, a tour of facilities within the Nigerian Army Cantonment in Ekehuan, Benin City, an interactive session with officers and soldiers, and presentation of souvenirs.
