Ijuo Samson, 29, Arraigned Over Alleged Abduction of Minor in Lagos

A 29-year-old man, Ijuo Samson, was on Monday arraigned before an Ojo Magistrate Court over allegations of conspiracy and abduction of a minor in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

According to the charge sheet marked Charge No. 0/1160/2026, the defendant is facing two counts. The case was filed by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.

The first count stated that Ijuo Samson ‘M’ and others now at large conspired among themselves to commit a felony. The alleged offence is said to have occurred between the month of June, 2025 and February, 2026 at Banire Extension, Mosafejo, Ojo, in the Ojo Magisterial District.

The prosecution said the alleged conspiracy was to commit abduction. The offence is punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The second count alleged that on the same date, time and place, the defendant and others now at large allegedly abducted a minor.

The charge sheet stated that the victim was allegedly taken to an unknown destination without the knowledge of his parents. This offence is punishable under Section 269 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

The matter was presented before the court by the prosecutor, ASP. Esther Adesulu. The case is being handled by the Ojo Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to court documents, the IPO listed for the case was CPL. Adejoke Oyetakin attached to Ojo Division.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.

The document listed the Divisional Police Officer as CSP. Opeifa Omolola of Ojo, Lagos. As at the time of filing this report, the Police had not released any further statement on the case beyond what was contained in the charge sheet.

Section 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Law deals with conspiracy, while Section 269 addresses the offence of abduction. Both are punishable under Lagos State law. The defendant will remain subject to the bail conditions granted by the court pending the next adjourned date. The prosecution is expected to present its case on the next court date. Legal experts say the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
