Man who att@cked young woman after she rejected his advances is arrested in Abuja (video)

A man who went viral for assaulting a woman who rejected his advances has been arrested and detained.
Recall that a video went viral yesterday showing a young woman crying while accusing an older man of sl@pping her because she said “no” when he approached her and asked to know her.
The man has now been traced and arrested.

The young woman involved said Nigerians online helped her find the man and she went with her family to the police station closest to his house to report.
She claims that on getting there, it was claimed that many people had filed complaints against the same man but no one had evidence. Her video evidence was all that was needed to go after the man.
She went with the police to the man’s house and when the man saw them, he reportedly ran inside and locked himself up before escaping through the back of the compound.

The victim alleged that after he escaped, neighbours opened up, saying the man is known to cause trouble in the area and also allegedly harasses young women.
Eventually, the man presented himself at the police station where video shows him apologising.
The victim said the aim was to go to court but her family decided they did not want her going through that since she is a student and they want her to be focused in school.
They decided they would settle out of court if he pays for the physical and emotional damages he caused.
He has been detained until he can pay the damages.
“No means No, and the sooner some men start respecting women’s boundaries, the beter our society will become,” the young woman he is accused of assaulting wrote as she shared a video of his arrest.
