NDLEA Uncovers Illegal Methamphetamine Laboratory in Ogun

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a clandestine methamphetamine production laboratory in Mowe Village, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, in what authorities describe as a major anti-drug operation.
According to the agency, operatives discovered a fully equipped drug-processing facility containing industrial reactors, chemical containers, glass flasks, beakers, heating mantles, gas burners, tubes, improvised electrical wiring, and power generators, indicating the site was capable of manufacturing illicit drugs.
The raid also led to the recovery of liquid methamphetamine, hazardous chemical waste, unidentified substances, caustic soda, volatile solvents, precision weighing scales, packaging materials, and protective gear. NDLEA officers reported that the laboratory contained heavy chemical fumes, highlighting the dangers posed by the operation.
A special court was reportedly convened at the scene to arraign suspects connected to the alleged illegal laboratory. However, the NDLEA has not yet disclosed the number of people arrested, how long the operation had been running, or the full range of illicit substances believed to have been produced there.
Investigations are ongoing, and the agency is expected to release further details as the case progresses.
