Under the Renewed Hope Initiative, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady, gave N50 million to 1,000 small business owners in Ile-Ife, Osun, on Wednesday.
The recipients of the empowerment program, which took place in Kensington Hall at Ooni’s Palace, Ile-Ife, each received N50,000 to help them grow and support their enterprises.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has been commended for a petty traders’ empowerment initiative in Osun State, with beneficiaries urged to make judicious use of the N50,000 grant disbursed to them.
Represented by Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, the All Progressives Congress Women Leader in Osun, the First Lady urged the beneficiaries to invest the grant wisely, noting that the intervention was designed to improve their economic well-being and family welfare.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the APC governorship candidate in Osun, encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds to grow their businesses.
Also speaking, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, appealed to residents of Ile-Ife to support the APC governorship candidate in the August 15 election, as well as President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, commended the First Lady for empowering petty traders, describing the initiative as timely and capable of improving livelihoods across communities.
The traditional ruler said the Renewed Hope Initiative reflected the administration’s commitment to uplifting the less privileged, adding that genuine empowerment should be targeted at the needy.
He said all verified beneficiaries would receive the grant, and urged recipients to put the funds to productive use in strengthening their businesses.
