Dispatch rider allegedly k!lled by Lagos hoodlums for refusing extortion

A dispatch rider has di£d after refusing extortion from suspected hoodlums along the Ikotun-Idimu Road in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Emmanuel Jegede, 32, hit the concrete with his body and di£d after the suspected hoodlums allegedly pushed him off his bike on Wednesday morning, July 29.
The incident occurred between 8am to 10am after the rider completed a delivery and was heading to another destination.
When he got to the Alhaja end of the road, two suspected hoodlums who were trying to extort him pushed him suddenly while he was still in motion. He lost control of his bike and rammed into the concrete median where he d!ed
Reports claim that earlier, the dispatch rider had been involved in a minor collision with a keke rider but people in the area, including the suspected hoodlums, resolved the issue.
Subsequently, the hoodlums allegedly demanded money from the dispatch rider for resolving the issue.
The rider said he had no money and continued on his way to make a delivery.
However, while he was on his way to another location after making the delivery, the hoodlums, who had crossed over to the other side of the road to wait for him, pushed him and his bike swerved and rammed into the median.
When the hoodlums saw that he had become unconscious, they fled the scene.
The policemen from the Idimu Police Division later arrived at the scene and evacuated the corpse.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident. She said the police were investigating the incident and working to obtain CCTV footage from the area to determine what happened.
