Ricardo Agbor Reveals 18-Year Wait Before Welcoming Twins

Veteran Nollywood actor Ricardo Agbor has opened up about his 18-year journey to parenthood, revealing that he and his wife waited nearly two decades before welcoming their twins.

The actor disclosed this during an interview published on Sunday, where he reflected on his marriage, faith, and the challenges he faced before becoming a father.

Agbor said he remained committed to his wife throughout the long wait for children, noting that although he married a woman from a different tribe from his, contrary to expectations of friction, their union remained fair and stable.

Speaking about the couple’s struggle with childlessness, the actor said he had specifically prayed for twins and refused to give up despite the 18-year wait.

He explained that it took 18 years before he finally had his twins, who are now 14, noting that he had told God specifically that he wanted twins.

He said that while many people in his position might have given up during that long wait, he remained steadfast and eventually welcomed a boy and a girl, exactly what he had asked God for.

Agbor also recounted what he described as the most painful experience of his life the loss of his mother.

According to him, she had been undergoing treatment for about three weeks without any improvement before doctors advised that she be flown to South Africa for further medical care.

The actor said his mother had asked to be moved to another private hospital in Surulere instead, but she passed away in his arms as he was helping her into the car.

He recalled that at the hospital, nearly ten doctors had been brought in to run tests, yet her condition failed to improve after almost three weeks, after which doctors advised that she be taken to South Africa.

He said he instead took her to another private hospital within Surulere at her own request, but as he carried her into the car, she gave up.

Agbor said the loss left him devastated, describing it as the first time he had ever cried outside of acting.

He explained that he does not normally cry, and that whenever he appears to, it is usually part of a movie role, but on this occasion, the pain was real and he genuinely wept.
