Rivers: NCDMB, AFN empower 50 youths with digital, technical skills
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with AFN Global Services Limited, has concluded a 10-day training and empowerment programme for 50 youths in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The programme, held from June 29 to July 10, 2026, focused on the installation and maintenance of DSTV, CCTV cameras and Starlink systems, equipping participants with practical skills to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.
The initiative was designed to prepare young Nigerians for opportunities in the telecommunications, security and digital services sectors through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on practical sessions.
Participants were trained in system installation, fault diagnosis, cable management, signal optimisation and customer service to meet the growing demand for skilled technicians across the country.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Managing Director of AFN Global Services Limited, Mrs Francess Aniemeke, commended the beneficiaries for their dedication throughout the programme.
She urged them to put the skills acquired to productive use by establishing sustainable careers and businesses.
“This programme is about more than training. It is about empowering you to create value, generate income and contribute to national development,” she said.
To support the participants as they begin their careers, the organisers presented each of the 50 beneficiaries with training kits and starter tools.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to NCDMB and AFN Global Services for the opportunity, saying the training had equipped them with marketable skills that would enable them to become self-employed and improve technical service delivery in Rivers State and beyond.
The partnership between NCDMB and AFN Global Services forms part of ongoing efforts to promote human capital development and deepen Nigerian content participation in technical and digital service sectors.
