Shouting match erupts on CNN over Trump border czar’s wild claims: ‘Nobody said that!’

A shouting match erupted on CNN’s “NewsNight” with host Fredericka Whitfield on Monday night over comments President Donald Trump’s border czar made earlier in the day.

Earlier in the day, border czar Tom Homan held a press conference where he claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who killed protesters in Minneapolis in January did not make any mistakes. He also blamed the rhetoric against ICE on the left for the multitude of violent incidents between agents and the public, including two recent deaths in Maine and Texas.

Christine Quinn, the executive chair of the New York State Democratic Party, argued that Homan’s comments are indicative of how the Trump administration tries to hold Democrats to one standard while dismissing heated rhetoric coming from inside their own gates.

“There were just two individuals killed by ICE agents, and every day we’re learning more about one of those ICE agents,” Quinn said.

Trump’s former economic advisor, Stephen Moore, attempted to cut in, but Quinn quickly shut the door.

“No, I’m talking!” she snapped.

That’s when the panel started getting heated.

Moore argued that Democrats could have passed the reforms to ICE that they’re pushing for when former President Joe Biden was in office. That claim set off Keith Boykin, a former Clinton White House aide, who reminded Moore that Trump killed a bipartisan effort to reform ICE last year.

“The reason why democrats did not do anything about that is that your president, Donald Trump, told them not to!” Boykin said.

GOP pundit Scott Jennings attempted to tie Homan’s comments to the arrest of a military veteran who attempted to firebomb a federal building in New York on Monday. The individual was arrested with anti-ICE memorabilia, according to reports.

“Let me make sure I understand: this deranged, anti-ICE leftist tries to blow up the federal office in New York today, and that’s Donald Trump’s fault?” Jennings asked.
