10 Police Officers Killed in Kebbi Bandit Clash

The Nigeria Police Force has mourned 10 officers k!lled during a confrontation with suspected b@ndits in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State, pledging sustained operations to apprehend fleeing attackers.

The Force Public Relations Officer disclosed this on Tuesday following earlier confirmation by the Kebbi State Police Command that 10 personnel and two civilians d!£d during the encounter along the Rafin Makuku axis on Monday.

The clash occurred approximately 9:25 am when police operatives intercepted the suspected b@ndits moving between Zamfara and Kebbi states.

The police reported that at least 17 suspected b@ndits were neutralised during the engagement, with four motorcycles belonging to the attackers destroyed.

Ten police personnel d!£d whilst two others sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

Two civilians also perished during the engagement. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu expressed profound grief regarding the losses and extended condolences to the families and associates of fallen officers, characterising their d£aths as “a painful loss to the Force and the nation.”

The IGP noted that the officers “paid the ultimate price while defending the people they swore to protect.”

The Inspector-General assured families that officer sacrifices would be remembered and honoured by the Nigeria Police Force.

Remains of the fallen personnel were conveyed to Birnin Kebbi, with the police confirming that the affected area had been brought under control.

Additional personnel have been deployed to sustain operations pursuing the fleeing criminal group members.

The Force extended assurances of continued support to bereaved families and injured personnel, pledging that officer memory would be honoured through sustained efforts to secure justice.
