Again, Lenders Consult backs police on security preparations ahead of 2027 poll

Lenders Consult International has officially reaffirmed its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to co-organise the 6th Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO 2026), aimed at developing a national security roadmap for the 2027 general elections.

This was highlighted by Shina Philips, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lenders Consult International.

He spoke during a press briefing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The company has worked alongside police authorities since 2019 to secure sponsorships and deliver high-level operational solutions for Nigeria’s lead internal security agency.

Speaking, Philips said the organisation remained committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with the Nigeria Police in preparation for the security challenges that may arise during the 2027 elections.

He said the organisation’s position aligned with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on the role of the police in ensuring a stable electoral process.

According to Philips, the IGP had underscored the importance of the police in elections, saying, “Stability of the electoral process largely depends on the Police as the lead agency in internal democracy.”

He said Lenders Consult had partnered with the Nigeria Police since 2019 to help drive policing visions of this nature.

Philips disclosed that the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers would hold from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State.

He said the theme of the conference was “Developing A Nigeria Police Road Map for Effective Management of Security During Elections.”

According to him, Lenders Consult had secured sponsorship for every edition of the conference since it first received approval to organise the event.

He described the initiative as the organisation’s contribution towards supporting the Nigeria Police in carrying out its responsibilities of protecting lives and property and maintaining public order.

Philips, while commending government efforts, called for greater support for the police from Nigerians.

He said the country’s security challenges required collective support for the police to effectively fulfil their constitutional mandate.

The Lenders Consult boss also said the conference had continued to expand its reach, attracting international participants and creating an avenue for the exchange of modern policing ideas.

He said Nigeria, as the giant of Africa, was leading efforts to adopt modern policing methods and pledged that his organisation would continue to work with the police authorities to ensure that the conference remained focused on delivering cutting-edge policing solutions.

Philips thanked the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Management Team and the entire Nigeria Police Force for their support for the programme since 2019.

He also expressed appreciation to the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for agreeing to host the conference for the third time.

The Eagle Online reports earlier that the Nigeria Police Force, while announcing the sixth edition of CARSPO, confirmed that the conference will be held in conjunction with Lenders Consult International.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the Conference will focus on developing a strategic roadmap for effective management of security during elections ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Themed: “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” CARSPO 2026 will bring together senior police officers, policing experts, and relevant stakeholders to examine emerging electoral security challenges and develop practical strategies for safe, peaceful, and credible elections.

Deliberations will focus on Intelligence-led Policing, Police-Community Partnerships, digital technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and other contemporary approaches to strengthening police operations before, during, and after elections.

The Conference, primarily involving officers of the rank of Commissioner of Police and above, will provide an opportunity for strategic engagement and the development of practical measures to strengthen the Force’s capacity for election security management.

The Conference will facilitate the development of actionable strategies for the protection of voters, electoral personnel, candidates, electoral materials and the general public during the 2027 General Elections.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10am on September 21, 2026 in Owerri, Imo State.
