Davido reacts as President Tinubu calls his Uncle, Gov Adeleke, moments after he ordered EFCC to vacate court order freezing Osun state govt account
Singer, Davido has stated that he “witnessed history” after President Bola Tinubu phoned Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to announce he was ordering the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to lift the freeze on the state’s accounts.
The EFCC froze the Osun State Government’s bank accounts on August 5, 2026, just ten days before the state governorship election. President Tinubu released a personal statement saying he was “deeply embarrassed” by the timing, noting it could look like federal interference in the upcoming election.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga confirmed that Tinubu called Governor Adeleke directly to break the news of the reversal.
Taking to social media, Davido confirmed he was present during the high-level phone call, writing: “I was there live! I witnessed history.”
