The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective examination candidates to exercise caution during profile creation for Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry registration, noting that seemingly minor inaccuracies at this stage can precipitate substantial complications throughout the subsequent admission process.
JAMB released an advisory video within its “JAMB Explained” content series directed at new candidates, highlighting name and date of birth discrepancies as particularly consequential errors.
The board urged candidates to scrutinise all personal information linked to their National Identification Number prior to commencing registration, stressing that verification at the outset prevents downstream difficulties.
The board clarified that candidate information originates from records maintained by the National Identity Management Commission and that JAMB neither generates nor modifies such data independently.
Consequently, once registration occurs, JAMB possesses no authority to alter any erroneous name or date of birth details should they escape initial notice.
JAMB also cautioned against the misconception that acquiring an affidavit automatically triggers correction of records within the board’s system.
The board emphasised that accuracy of identity particulars from the outset constitutes the foundation for all subsequent documentation.
Prospective candidates are strongly advised to confirm the correctness of all details before advancing with profile creation and registration procedures.
