Kaduna Moves to Get Every Child Into School Before Sani Leaves Office

Governor Uba Sani is focused on ensuring every school-age child in Kaduna State gets basic education before his administration ends.

The head of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education said education is a right under the governor, not a privilege, and free for all.

He said it is an offence for children to roam streets during school hours instead of being in class.

The official noted the high number of out-of-school children across Northern Nigeria but commended the governor for reducing that figure in Kaduna.

Over 360,000 children have been returned to schools under this administration, bringing down the previous count of over 500,000 out-of-school children.

He called on parents and guardians to enrol their children, saying education is the greatest equaliser that can lift children from poor backgrounds to success.

SUBEB has built over 2,000 classrooms to handle the increase in pupils.

Last Wednesday, SUBEB launched the 2026/2027 school enrolment campaign.

Senior government officials, education stakeholders and board staff walked from the State Secretariat to Sheikh Abubakar Gumi market to raise awareness about the importance of basic education.

Five children presented themselves for enrolment during the campaign and officials were mandated to ensure they entered primary school immediately.
