Kano Government Pays Tribute After Death of Sardaunan Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, as well as the Sokoto State government and populace, received a condolence visit from a delegation of the Kano State Government regarding the passing of Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji.

The condolence visit was made on Governor Abba Yusuf’s behalf, according to a statement released on Tuesday by Sunusi Tofa, the governor’s spokesman.

The Kano State delegation, led by Deputy Governor Murtala Garo, and comprising the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim; the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umar; the Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Doguwa; the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Aisha Saji; and other senior government officials, first visited the residence of the late Sardaunan Sokoto, where they conveyed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s condolences to the bereaved family.

Receiving the delegation, the deceased’s first son, Aminu Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the Kano governor for the show of sympathy and solidarity during the family’s period of mourning.

The delegation later proceeded to the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, where they delivered Yusuf’s condolence message to the monarch.

The Sultan thanked the governor for the gesture, describing it as a reflection of the enduring unity and brotherhood that binds the people of Northern Nigeria together.

The delegation also visited the Sokoto State Government House, where they were received by the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and the Secretary to the State Government, and conveyed Yusuf’s condolences to the government and people of the state over the death of the prominent traditional titleholder.

In his condolence message, Yusuf prayed that Allah forgives the shortcomings of the late Sardaunan Sokoto and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, asking that the Almighty also grant his family, the Sultanate Council and the people of Sokoto State the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The governor described the late Sardaunan Sokoto as a respected elder whose contributions to the Sultanate and Northern Nigeria would continue to be remembered.
