A suspected g¥n runner has reportedly gone into hiding after collecting ₦95 million from a b@ndit leader in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, having promised to supply firearms in return.
The allegation was made by Abdullahi Aliyu, popularly known as General, during an interview on a television programme.
He explained that the suspect had been handed the money to source high-grade weapons but is said to have absconded with the full amount without delivering any firearms.
Aliyu further linked the development to the deteriorating security situation in the area, alleging that a notorious b@ndit kingpin identified as Kachalla Maha recently withdrew from existing local peace agreements.
Since then, the b@ndit leader is said to have begun imposing heavy livestock levies on surrounding communities, a development that has further heightened tension and insecurity in the region.
