Kemi Adeosun’s husband laid to rest as dignitaries pay tribute + Video

Anthony Adeniyi Adeosun, husband of former Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been laid to rest in Lagos.

Adeosun died on August 5, 2026, at the age of 62.

The funeral service was held on Thursday at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David, Trinity Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos, where family members, friends and dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects.

Among those who attended the service were former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife; Chief (Mrs.) Bola Obasanjo, wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo; First Lady of Ogun State; and former First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs Ajimobi.

Also in attendance were former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; former President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina; Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr Zacch Adedeji; and former Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Arunma Oteh.

Speaking at the funeral service, Bola Obasanjo recalled an encounter involving the Adeosun family and her husband, Olusegun Obasanjo.

She said: “I remember, on that faithful day, you had something doing. Your husband came with his brother, and even nearly the whole family, to visit my husband. Not just to invite him alone.”

“When we say Adeosun, I remember that my husband called both of you behind the curtain. He said a lot about that family, Adeosun,” she added.

Addressing Kemi and the family, she said: “Femi, Kemi, be strong.”

“Keep the flag flying. What your husband has built, the seed he has sown, will continue to germinate,” she added.

Speaking further, Bola Obasanjo told the bereaved family: “Kemi, and the whole family of Adeosun, your husband has been immortalised. We can never forget what he had done.”

Adeniyi Adeosun was remembered as a prominent businessman and devoted Christian who left a lasting legacy.
